    How the system works

    Detection

    Civil Defence radar and MoI operations rooms detect aerial threats and confirm through NATO/GCC data-sharing before an alert is authorised.

    Verification

    A duty officer verifies the alert against @moi_bahrain and Ministry of Interior wire feeds. False positives are filtered before transmission.

    Broadcast

    Physical sirens sound and push notifications reach every registered device in the affected governorates within 30 seconds of verification.

    Who operates this service?
    The Alert Bahrain service is operated by the Ministry of Interior · Civil Defence Directorate, in coordination with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) early-warning framework.
    Is the app a replacement for the physical sirens?
    No. The sirens are the primary public warning. This app complements them — it reaches you when you are indoors, wearing headphones, or outside siren range, and provides shelter routing and multilingual instructions.
    What happens if my phone is off or offline?
    Push notifications are delivered as soon as your device is next online. The app is designed to work with the standard mobile carrier alert channel (Cell Broadcast) where available, which bypasses data plan restrictions.
    How is my location handled?
    Your position is computed only on your device to display the nearest shelter. No coordinates are transmitted to Ministry of Interior servers unless you press "I'm safe" during an active alert.
    Which languages are supported?
    The service is available in the five most-spoken languages of Bahrain residents: Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi and Tagalog. Additional languages are in progress.
